Always Something Sauce is a two-person farm business in West Point, California. Who we are

Always Something Sauce / Always Something Farm

What you give us

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number. We need these to take payment, pack the box, and get it to you.

When you pay, your card details go directly to our payment processor (see below). We never see or store your full card number.

When you create an account, we store your email address and order history so you can look up past orders.

When you sign up for our email list, we store the email address you give us. The signup form on our site is operated by our web host’s service (Bluehost / Newfold), so your address is sent to and held by them as well as by us. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

When you email us, we keep the message so we can answer it and remember the conversation next time.

What gets collected automatically

Our store runs on WordPress and WooCommerce and uses a handful of standard services. These collect information about your visit — typically your IP address, browser, device type, the pages you looked at, and how you got here:

  • Google Analytics (via the MonsterInsights plugin) — visitor statistics, so we know which sauces people actually look at.
  • Jetpack Stats (Automattic) — a second set of basic visitor statistics.
  • Jetpack CDN (Automattic) — Automattic’s servers deliver both our product photos and most of the site’s code (scripts and stylesheets), so your browser contacts them on every page you view, not just pages with photos.
  • Bluehost / Website Builder — our web host and the tool the store is built with; their services load parts of the page.
  • Google Fonts — type is loaded from Google’s servers, which means Google sees the request.
  • Stripe — our payment processor’s script loads on product pages, before you have bought anything or entered any card details.
  • Gravatar (Automattic) — if a product review displays an avatar, a scrambled (hashed) form of that reviewer’s email address is sent to Automattic to look the picture up.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — used to block spam on forms; Google analyzes the interaction to decide whether you’re a person.

These services set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the store will still work, though your cart may not stick between visits.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s advertising. It goes to the companies that make the store run, and only for that purpose:

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing what they do with the information.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we need them for our books and for tax purposes — generally seven years. Account information stays until you ask us to remove it. Email list subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

Email us at alwayssomethingsauce@gmail.com and we will:

  • tell you what information we hold about you,
  • correct anything that’s wrong,
  • delete your account and personal information, except records we’re required to keep for tax and accounting,
  • take you off the email list.

We won’t treat you differently for asking.

Children

Our store isn’t directed at children and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
