Always Something Sauce is the store side of Always Something Farm, a two-person farm in West Point, California. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit this site or place an order. If anything here is unclear, email us — you'll talk to Josh or Zach.
The short version
This site has no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising tags, and no cookies. We don't know who you are until you buy something or email us, and we have no way to follow you around the internet. That isn't a privacy posture we adopted for a badge — it's just that a farm stand doesn't need any of it.
What you give us when you order
To take payment and get you your order, we need your name, email address, delivery address, and what you ordered. If you're picking up locally, we also need the ZIP code you enter so we can tell whether free pickup is available to you.
Your card details never reach us. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page — you leave this site to pay. Stripe handles the card, and we only ever see the last four digits and the fact that it worked. We could not give away your card number if we tried, because we never have it.
What gets stored in your browser
Two things, both stored locally on your own device, and neither sent anywhere except when you check out:
- Your cart — which sauces or produce you added, and how many. This is why your cart survives closing the tab.
- The ZIP code you typed on the cart page, so you don't have to type it again.
There is also a one-off marker recording that you've already seen the homepage intro animation, so we don't replay it at you every visit. It disappears when you close your browser.
You can clear all of this at any time by clearing site data in your browser. It will empty your cart, which is the only consequence.
What our host and our payment processor see
- Cloudflare hosts this site. Like any web host, it processes standard request information — your IP address, your browser and device type, and which pages were requested — in order to serve pages and block attacks.
- Stripe processes payments and the checkout page itself. When you go to pay, Stripe receives your name, email, delivery address, and card details directly, and applies its own privacy policy and cookies on its own pages. Stripe also sends your receipt.
- Google operates the Gmail account our email arrives at. Anything you email us is stored in that mailbox.
We haven't added anything else. No analytics service, no email marketing platform, no advertising network, no chat widget, no embedded fonts or scripts from other companies.
Email and the harvest list
Our contact links and the harvest list sign-up open your own email program with a message addressed to us. There's no form, no signup service, and no database on our end — the email simply arrives in our inbox, and we add you to a list we keep ourselves. Reply "take me off" at any time and you're off it. We don't sell or share the list, and we don't send anything automated.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with anyone except the companies above, which need it to host the site, take the payment, and carry the box. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not run automated decision-making of any kind.
How long we keep things
Order records stay with Stripe and in our own records as long as we need them for tax and bookkeeping. Emails stay in our inbox until we tidy up. Anything stored in your browser stays on your device until you clear it.
Your choices
Email us and ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we'll do it. There's no form to fill in and no verification hoop — we're two people with a mailbox, and we'll just answer you. Deleting records we need for tax purposes isn't always possible, and we'll say so plainly if that's the case.
Children
This site is meant for adults buying hot sauce and vegetables. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We'll update this page when something changes, and the date at the top will say when.
